On September 17, about 5,000 pagers exploded simultaneously in Lebanon in the middle of the day. Thousands of people were injured, some were killed. Among the injured was the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani.

Reuters reports this. According to various sources, between 3,000 and 4,000 people could have been injured, and at least 9 people were killed.

The number of injured reaches 4 thousand

A lot of people were injured after the explosions of about 5 thousand pagers. Information in the media differs, and according to the latest data, the number of victims could reach 4 thousand. In addition, at least 9 people were killed.

Among the injured was Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani. His condition is not known for certain. Some media outlets write that his health is not in danger, while others claim that the diplomat lost one eye and the other is severely damaged. There have been no official reports on Amani's condition yet.

The pager explosions occurred in the south of the country, in the southern suburbs of Beirut known as Dahieh, and in the eastern Bekaa Valley. It is worth noting that these areas are Hezbollah strongholds.

Reuters, citing its own sources, reported that Hezbollah militants ordered 5,000 pagers manufactured by the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo. They were delivered to the country in the spring of 2024. They are likely to be the AP924 model, which only receives and displays text messages. The media suggests that the militants are using this type of communication device in an attempt to avoid Israeli location tracking.

According to unofficial information, the pagers exploded when a coded message was sent to them. It was this message that simultaneously activated the explosives.
