Near Zhitomir, two powerful explosions occurred at one of the industrial enterprises. Two people were killed and 24 were injured, including four children.
The head of the Zhytomyr regional military administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, announced this on the air of the United News telethon.

— At this moment, the reasons for the explosion are still unclear. The only thing I can say is that the event occurred on the territory of two production facilities, which were completely destroyed. Unfortunately, many residential buildings were destroyed, — Bunechko said.
According to him, at least 24 houses were completely destroyed, and a number of other houses were damaged.
There are two known deaths and 24 injured, including four children. According to Bunechko, the deceased were at that enterprise.
“They will study the categories of consequences, the causes of the consequences, what and how it happened is absolutely unclear,” he noted.
The explosion did not occur at a gas station, as was previously reported, but at another nearby facility near the highway in the direction of Kyiv, beyond the ring road – near the settlement of Berezina, the Zhytomyr City Council reports.

As a result of explosions near the village of Berezina in the Glybochitsky community, three 10 kV power lines were damaged.
According to ZhitomirOblenergo, 50 10/0.4 kV transformer substations were disconnected. At the same time, about 735 premises were left without electricity supply.
Zhytomyroblenergo noted that nine emergency response teams, equipped with everything necessary, are working to eliminate the consequences.
