Explosions in Sumy thundered on the evening of November 17 during an air raid siren.
The secretary of the Sumy city council, Artem Kobzar, reported this in the municipality's Telegram channel, Russia attacked a nine-story apartment building with a ballistic missile.

The head of the Sumy OVA Vladimir Artyukh reported on the consequences of the Russian attack:
— Sunday evening for the city of Sumy became hell, a tragedy that Russia brought to our land… Rescuers, volunteer battalions, and police are working here. More than 400 residents of damaged houses are being evacuated. A headquarters has been set up, Points of Invincibility are working, residents of neighboring houses and even from other neighborhoods of the city are joining in providing assistance to the victims.
President Volodymyr Zelensky also responded to Russia's latest attack.
— My condolences to the families and loved ones. The criminal must be punished for killing innocent people, — summed up the head of state.
