Explosions in Odessa thundered on the morning of November 17 during a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine. There are interruptions in the supply of heat, water and electricity in the region.

Mayor Gennady Trukhanov reported that all electric transport in Odessa stopped due to the Russian missile attack. There is no power in some areas.
Emergency power outages are currently in effect in Odessa. Some traffic lights are powered by uninterruptible power supplies, but some are temporarily out of service.
Due to emergency power outages, a number of water utility facilities were left without power. To restore the water supply, most pumping stations were connected to generators.
— However, the significant capacity and technological operating conditions of some pumping stations do not allow the use of autonomous power sources. It is due to the lack of electricity at some water utility facilities that there are temporary interruptions in the water supply to consumers in different areas of the city of Odessa, the city council noted.
Consequences of explosions in Odessa
According to Oleg Kiper, head of the Odessa OVA, hospitals and other critical infrastructure facilities are powered by generators.
There are interruptions in the supply of heat, water and electricity in the Odessa region. All emergency and utility services are working to eliminate the damage. Power engineers are also working hard — power is gradually being restored to consumers.
Oleg Kiper also reported that two people were killed as a result of the Russian attack. A 17-year-old boy was injured. Doctors are currently providing him with all the necessary assistance.
According to the State Emergency Service of the region, as a result of the Russian shelling, fires broke out in three private houses, and four more houses were destroyed.

Killed in missile strike
As reported by the head of the Odessa OVA Oleg Kiper, two Ukrenergo employees were killed as a result of the enemy missile strike – 41-year-old Dmytro Kaminnyi and 44-year-old Maksym Shargorodsky.
The Dumskaya publication reported that Dmytro Kaminnyi worked as a substation dispatcher. He left behind a 10-year-old daughter. Maksym Shargorodsky was mobilized at the beginning of the full-scale war. In May 2023, he returned and continued working as an electrician. Maxim has a 14-year-old daughter.
In the morning, explosions thundered in many regions of Ukraine: in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Rivne regions.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko reported that the target of Russian missiles is electricity generation and transmission facilities throughout Ukraine. According to him, transmission system operators have applied emergency power outages in the regions.
