The head of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, reported that the number of victims as a result of the explosion near Zhytomyr on July 2 has grown to 82 people.
He spoke about this on the telethon.
What is known about the consequences of the explosion
– The number of victims has increased to 82 people. There are 38 citizens in hospitals, including four children. Fortunately, the condition of those hospitalized is moderate or mild, – Bunechko said.
He added that one of the victims was a foreigner, who was also provided with the necessary assistance, shelter and treatment.

According to him, two deaths have been recorded so far.
“The restoration of damaged buildings is not postponed – we will work together: the state, the region and the community,” the head of the regional state administration said.
Bunechko also stated that the fire had already been extinguished, but investigative actions were continuing at the scene of the incident, and the causes of the tragedy were being determined.
“Traffic on the M-06 highway has already been fully restored – all restrictions have been lifted,” the official clarified.
Let us recall that on July 2, at about 6 p.m., not far from the city of Zhitomir, a large-scale explosion occurred on the Kyiv-Chop highway.
Initially, it was believed that the explosion occurred at a gas station, but then local authorities said that the incident occurred at two enterprises.
