Five people have been charged in connection with a case concerning an explosion at an industrial facility in Zhytomyr Oblast on Wednesday, July 2.
Explosion near Zhitomir on July 2: three persons were notified of suspicion
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, this is about an explosion that occurred on July 2 at a warehouse of an industrial enterprise in the village of Berezina in the Glybochitsky community, not far from Zhitomir.
As a result of this explosion, two people were killed and 83 others were injured, including eight minors.

In addition, more than 100 homes, three gas stations, and about 20 vehicles were damaged.
According to the investigation, the director of the enterprise set up operations to manufacture explosives, employing individuals without the appropriate professional level or special education.
As noted by the Office of the Prosecutor General, the company operated near residential buildings without permits, licenses, certificates or other documents.
Due to violation of the current rules and regulations established by law, during the production and storage of explosives, a fire broke out, which led to detonation and subsequent explosions.
Five persons were notified of suspicion of violating the rules for handling explosive substances: two heads of enterprises and three employees of one of them (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263, Part 2 of Article 263-1, Part 2 of Article 267 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As part of the case, searches are continuing at the residences of officials and founders of controlled enterprises. A petition was sent to the court to select a preventive measure for the suspects – detention.
