Six people were injured in an explosion at a Rheinmetall plant in Spain that supplies artillery shells to Ukraine. The incident occurred on January 30 at an enterprise specializing in the production of ammunition.

Incident at a Spanish factory

The explosion occurred at a factory specializing in the production of artillery ammunition, mortar shells and rocket launchers. After the alarm was sounded, the fire service, police and environmentalists arrived at the scene.

Six men aged between 30 and 52 were injured, five of whom were hospitalized with burns and injuries. The explosion caused two fires that destroyed about 3,000 square meters of bushes. Both fires have already been brought under control.

Spanish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

By the way, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry previously ordered 180 thousand 35-mm ammunition for the Gepard installations from Rheinmetall. The German company Rheinmetall has already received an order for 300 thousand ammunition in 2023 and supplies modern air defense systems to Ukraine.
