Important advice
As a person from Donetsk who has been watching for 8 years how people cope with the trauma of war, let me give you some advice.
Don't convince yourself that the war will be over by one date or another. The disappointment from the “missed deadline” is colossal and almost guaranteed. The desire to choose a new date for the end of hostilities is irresistible.
But war is unpredictable, even for those who started it. Any forecasts even from the best analysts are conditional.
The famous psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, who ended up in a concentration camp during World War II, recalled that those prisoners who did not believe that it would ever end were the first to break. And those who believed that everything would end very soon.
War for a long time?
The best thing you can do is honestly admit that the war can go on for a very long time. And it can end quickly.
We personally cannot foresee this. But we control our actions, which every day can make victory in this war a step closer.
So if the war goes on for a long time, you will not feel disappointed. And if the victory is fast, you will feel the joy of surprise. And every day you will feel in control of the situation.
Try to move from a worldview of waiting and responding to external events, to a worldview of actively planning goals and building a strategy to achieve them. And then the daily work to implement this strategy.
Of course, this is easy to say and difficult to implement. Especially during the war. But right now it will bring maximum benefit to you, your loved ones and the country. So we will win.
