Charles Michel spoke at the European Parliament on Tuesday, February 6th. The President of the European Council called on the United States to provide assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $60 billion.

According to the President of the European Council, every euro that was allocated to Ukraine – investment in European security. This was reported by a correspondent for Channel 24 in Strasbourg.

Appeal to allocate money to Ukraine

Speaking during the plenary meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, President of the European Council Charles Michel said that every euro spent to support Ukraine is an investment in European security and prosperity EU.

Also, the President of the European Council called on American partners to support Kiev.

“I want to appeal to representatives of the US House of Representatives with a request to allocate the 60 billion dollars necessary to ensure the financial stability of Ukraine,” said Charles Michel.

When Ukraine will receive 50 billion euros from the EU

The European Union is already preparing to provide 50 billion euros to support the Ukrainian budget. Ukraine should receive this money under the Ukraine Facility program.

The head of the European Commission insists that the EU will keep its word and continue to support the Ukrainian budget as long as it is needed. According to her, payments are planned to begin in March.

We would like to remind you that the Ukraine Facility’s assistance was approved on February 1, and on the 5th preliminary agreements were reached regarding the implementation of the program for restoring the Ukrainian territories. The project will operate from 2024 to 2027.

The final document must be approved by the European Parliament at the plenary session. The meeting is scheduled for February 26 – 29.
