“Even in Trump's team, not everyone believes in his victory”: political scientist noted an interesting detail Angelika Galesevich

US presidential candidate Donald Trump is in a reactive position. He is incredibly behind, which was even evident during the televised debates between the vice presidential contenders.

In particular, J.D. Vance contradicted Trump on many issues. Political scientist Oleg Saakyan told Channel 24 about this, noting that the politician could be preparing for the next elections in 2028.

What Vance's behavior during the televised debates shows

According to the political scientist, the televised debates between vice presidential candidates Tim Walz from the Democratic Party and J.D. Vance from the Republican Party were extremely revealing. But not in terms of who will win and whom. There was only one indicator, and it worked – how Vance would behave.

There were 2 possible scenarios:

  • either the Republican Party believes in Trump's victory, and Vance is investing in it in every possible way. It is important for him to support Trump in order to get a further springboard into a political career. If not, everyone will lose;
  • or Vance will begin to distance himself, which will indicate the transition to the next electoral cycle. When the situation for the Republicans is not very good and they will prepare “spare boats”.

However, Vance behaved rather restrainedly and even contradicted Trump in many statements. He positioned himself not as a potential vice president, but as almost an opponent of Trump's ideology within the Republican Party and a candidate for the upcoming US presidential election in 2028.

“This suggests that not everyone within the team itself believes and is ready to invest 100% in Trump's victory. After that, Trump comes out and says, like, “I won't run, and there may not be any next elections at all.” This is an internal, behind-the-scenes party struggle <…> And this is one of the key indicators that the candidate may lose if the team is hesitant and does not believe in his victory,” Oleg Saakyan noted.
