A specially equipped 8-car medical train of Ukrzaliznytsia has arrived in Lviv. It is reported that 25 patients of varying severity were transported on the first flight.

They were accompanied by Belgian doctors and Ukrainian volunteers. It is reported that the converted traveling hospital has a separate intensive care car, an ultrasound machine, a dozen oxygen concentrators, defibrillators, infusion pumps.

Alexander Pertsovsky, Head of the Passenger Department of Ukrzaliznytsia, said that transportation by medical cars allows saving less mobile patients from under the line of fire for further specialized treatment in Ukraine and abroad.

In addition, the medical train will help unload the flow patients in frontline communities.

We have moved on to a larger and more technically advanced medical train. This allows us to better help hospitals in the East with the transportation of the most vulnerable patients, and then save them a place to treat new wounded, said project coordinator Marie Burton.

Alexander Pertsovsky added that there are currently 23 old passenger cars refurbished for a new purpose. Flights of medical trains will not be disclosed, but will continue on a regular basis.
