Gas and electricity prices have increased for European consumers due to for anti-Russian sanctions.
European leaders will discuss measures to reduce the impact of high energy prices on consumers as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine.
This was announced by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Cros, Reuters reports.
“The EU is not only about big principles, big meetings and American presidents,” he said.
The prime minister emphasized that today we are talking about people's accounts for electricity and gas, and these are consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine, because the EU and the US have imposed a number of sanctions, including in the energy sector.
“Therefore, we need to intervene and I hope that this time we have measures that have an impact. With such high prices, we destroy our population and public finances. We are at war, and emergency measures must be taken in a war,” he said.
Recall, EU countries have not agreed on an energy embargo against Russia: which states are against it.
