The European Union supports Ukraine and imposes sanctions that beat the economy of the enemy. However, such steps have consequences for Europe as well.

The sanctions of the European Union, imposed in response to the full-scale invasion of the Russian occupiers, are slowly but relentlessly killing the economy of the enemy. At the same time, Europe has to look for alternative energy sources and rebuild supply chains.

The hardest winter in 60 years

Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor said the EU would have to pay a high price for sanctions against Russia. He stressed that sanctions as one of the ways to contain the infidels are urgently needed, but you need to be prepared for the tests that will result from these steps.

We passed a law setting prices until April 2023 to get through what we estimate will be a harsh winter… But as gas prices go up everywhere in Europe, it will be a tough winter, maybe the harshest winter in 40, 50, 60 years for the whole of Europe, Unfortunately, Hunor believes.

Let's note that the price of gas in Europe has already reached $1,800 per thousand cubic meters, which is a four-month maximum. At the same time, the Russian occupiers have cut off gas supplies through the Nord Stream and are going to blackmail Europe with their energy sources.

The EU is actively looking for alternative fuel sources, but covering all needs still looks somewhat problematic.
