Former Ukrainian national futsal player and European Championship vice-champion Taisiya Babenko has died at the age of 31.
The Ukrainian Football Association reported this on social networks.

It is reported that Babenko died after battling cancer. The athlete battled cancer for a year.

The futsal player was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024. After that, her football club Vorskla supported Babenko by wearing T-shirts with her image in the match against Shakhtar.

During her career, Taisiya Babenko played for futsal Nika and PZMS, as well as football teams Lider and WFC Vorskla. She played for the Ukrainian national futsal and beach soccer teams.
Together with the Ukrainian futsal team, she won silver at the 2023 European Championship and bronze at Euro 2022.
In the last season of 2023/24, she played seven matches for the Poltava team and scored one goal.
