The European Union will open the first cluster on Moldova's accession talks on July 4.
This was announced by the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, as reported on the website of the European Commission.

The negotiations themselves will open on the Fundamental Values cluster.
“As you know, in the accession process there are negotiations on 33 chapters, and at the summit that will take place in Chisinau on July 4 with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, the first chapter will be opened,” Dan said.
In April, it was reported that the EU was considering the possibility of continuing Moldova's accession process separately from Ukraine, amid Hungary's position of resisting negotiations with Kiev.
European Council Summit
The European Council summit is taking place in Brussels over the course of two days, June 26-27. The draft final communiqué states the EU's intentions to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, calls for an end to hostilities, and confirms the allocation of the previously announced €30.6 billion.
The main topics of the meeting included an assessment of Ukraine’s progress towards joining the EU.
The Ukrainian side has already submitted documents to the European Commission to start negotiations on three clusters: Basics of the accession process, Internal Market and External Relations.
