The European Union has agreed on the allocation of 5 billion euros to Ukraine. This money will be transferred in the form of long-term loans for our country.
All countries were in favor of providing money, only Hungary was again against it. The publication reported the relevant information, citing its own sources.
The EU has agreed on a new tranche for Ukraine
The European Union is preparing a new aid package in the amount of 5 billion euros for Ukraine, Bloomberg reported.
Diplomats noted that the European Commission will offer a loan package next week.
“They plan to provide this money to Ukraine so that it can cover urgent expenses, including wages and benefits,” the message says.
Hungary is against providing assistance to Ukraine
According to media reports, only Hungary refrained from supporting. In particular, because of concerns about burden-sharing.
“The representative of the Hungarian mission in Brussels did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Formal approval of the proposal requires unanimity among 27 national governments,” the message says.
According to press reports, EU economic ministers:
- will sign a political declaration in support of the 5 billion euro tranche at the end of next week;
- the package may be officially adopted at the meeting of the EU Council, scheduled for September 20 in Brussels.
This money from the EU is part of the previously agreed 9 billion euro assistance to Ukraine. As of September 2, 2022, our state has received only 1 billion.
It should be remembered that Hungary does not support visa sanctions against Russians, refused to provide weapons to Ukraine, and also agreed with Moscow on additional gas supplies.< /p>
