Estonia is strengthening its border with Russia, this week completing construction of a 40-kilometer fence along the southern border.

Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läanemets noted that the EU's eastern border, which runs along the border with Estonia, should be equipped with the most modern equipment, security systems and drone surveillance. The project should be completed in 2025.

— We don't have any increased pressure. But, of course, we are ready if this happens, — said Läanemets, standing at the fence overlooking the territory of the Russian Federation.
He added that Estonia has applied for EU funding to develop capabilities such as drone surveillance and radar monitoring of positions on lakes and rivers.
Estonia previously allowed the possibility of closing the border with the Russian Federation.
