In Moldova, the meeting of the Security Council on provocations in Transnistria ended. Following its results, Maia Sandu explained who is responsible for the escalation.

According to the President of Moldova, in the unrecognized Transnistria, the situation between different forces escalated. This is what led to a series of explosions.

Our analysis showed that there is tension between different forces within the region that are interested in destabilizing the situation,” Sandu noted.

The head of state stressed that the escalation in the region has already been observed few weeks. After all, for a long time there have been reports of bombing schools and hospitals. She also confirmed the explosions at the airport in Tiraspol, but said that their causes are still unknown.

Sandu condemned provocations and attempts to drag Moldova into the conflict. The president also stressed that she was ready for dialogue.

Following the meeting of the Security Council of Moldova, the law enforcement agencies of the country were given the following recommendations:

  • check traffic in the security zone;
  • increase the intensity of patrolling along the borders of Moldova;
  • increase the level of security alerts for critical infrastructure;
  • increase the combat readiness of all institutions responsible for ensuring public order.
