Details of the arrest of a terrorist
On the detention of a militant on September 8, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The politician noted that he is one of the most important leaders of the “Islamic State”.
Erdogan said that the main security department of the country and the police department of Istanbul took part in the operation to apprehend the terrorist.
This terrorist's connections in Syria and Istanbul have long been tracked. There was intelligence information that he would enter Turkey illegally. The Istanbul security services determined that the terrorist used a fake name and disguise, the president said.
The detainee was interrogated by national intelligence and police department officials. After that, he was handed over to the judicial authorities.
