Erdogan offered Putin mediation services: why the Kremlin responded sharply Maria Leleka

The President of Turkey said that it could form the basis for a ceasefire agreement and peace between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, the Kremlin responded that Recep Tayyip Erdogan cannot be a mediator.

On air 24 Channel political scientist, executive director of the International Association of Small Communities Alexey Buryachenko explained the Kremlin’s response. According to him, Russia realized that Erdogan is not 100% loyal to Putin. He simply makes huge money from the weakness of the Russian Federation.

This is the so-called multi-vector policy from Erdogan, to make money for everyone at once,” explained the political scientist.

After all, the President of Turkey has stable relations with the United States, with NATO countries, with Ukraine. It is worth recalling that at the beginning of a full-scale war, the Turkish Bayraktar really helped us a lot. Also, Erdogan at absolutely all meetings recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

At the same time, the Turkish leader passed grain through his ports and received a huge discount for it. He constantly talked about the grain agreement and said what a fair peacemaker he was.

The Kremlin's attitude towards Erdogan

The political scientist noted that Recep Tayyip Erdogan also received a lot from Russia. Those agreements certainly did not leave him in the red, but Russia is in the balance. It won somewhere, but it couldn’t completely deprive Ukraine of grain sea exports, because Turkey was constantly maneuvering somewhere.

That’s why the response to Erdogan from Russian representatives was so harsh, because they understand that they will not achieve their absolute goal,” said the political scientist.

In any case, whether Erdogan is a negotiator or gives a platform, he will still provide a certain balance. At the same time, formally in Russia they can declare what kind of platform Turkey can be if it is in constant relations with the United States, with the EU, buys equipment from them and is a member of NATO.

“Therefore, there are formal and informal reasons for Erdogan’s refusal. Now Putin is trying to expand the circle of possible negotiators who will pursue Putin’s position with priority on him,” explained Alexey Buryachenko.
