Energy security and attacks by the Russian Federation: Kyiv proposes to reconvene the Ukraine-NATO Council

Official Kiev proposes to convene the Ukraine-NATO Council to discuss energy security, since the Russian Federation may resort to new terrorist attacks during the heating season.

This was discussed at the meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic issues integration of Olga Stefanishina and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

– Taking into account the possible intensification of Russian attacks on the energy complex of Ukraine, Olga Stefanishina proposed holding a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on energy security issues in the near future, — noted in the Cabinet of Ministers.

In addition, the structure and format of the adapted Annual National Program was discussed. Based on this document, Ukraine's progress in implementing NATO standards on the path to membership should be assessed.
Stefanishyna spoke about the vision of Ukraine. According to her, the Annual National Program should be concise, with specific criteria covering key reforms.

The Roadmap for Interoperability between Ukraine and NATO, as well as urgent needs for weapons (air defense systems, tanks, heavy armored vehicles, ammunition, F-16 fighters).

As you know, the Ukraine-NATO Council was created at the Vilnius summit in July 2023. The body should coordinate relations between Ukraine and NATO.

Previously, similar functions were performed by the Ukraine-NATO Commission. However, the new format of cooperation gives our country more opportunities to interact with the military bloc on an equal footing.

In July, the first meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council was held, dedicated to the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.< /p>

Now Kiev wants to assemble this body to consider the situation in the energy sector. According to Ukrainian intelligence forecasts, Russian troops may launch combined attacks on Ukraine this fall.
