Employed Ukrainian men can stay in Germany – Scholz

Ukrainians who have residence and work permits can remain in Germany. If citizens of Ukraine are not yet employed, they should do so, because this leads to safety of living in the country.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated this, RND reports.

According to Olaf Scholz, Ukrainians with residence permits and work will be able to remain in Germany, despite the state’s desire to return citizens who now remain abroad to participate in the war against Russia.

— The legal situation is such that residence here is not called into question. Employment leads to security of residence, — states the German Chancellor.

Olaf Scholz called on Ukrainians to find work in Germany. He hopes that as many citizens as possible will start working.

— It is worth saying that many are already doing this, but there are still several hundred thousand of those who are urgently needed in the labor market. In Germany, anyone who works here and doesn't go into debt, I'm pretty sure they can stay here, — he said.

Ukraine’s decision to no longer issue passports to Ukrainians liable for military service abroad in embassies and consulates does not affect their right to remain in Germany, noted Olaf Scholz.
