Massive Russian missile attacks on energy infrastructure have forced rolling blackouts in several regions. In particular, in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Ternopil and other regions.

Ukrenergo notes that the shutdown is necessary to reduce the load on the network and give power engineers the opportunity to restore them. They are fully controlled and will last for several hours, channel 24 reports.

Blackouts in Kyiv

Because in the capital electricity consumption has increased, DTEK Kyiv Grids are forced to apply a schedule for limiting electricity supply.

Consumer addresses are divided into three queues. First, the power supply was limited in part of the 3rd stage (16:00 – 20:00). True, they warned that, if necessary, they could turn off the next queue. However, no more than 4 hours.

  • 1st turn – from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 20:00 to 24:00
  • 2nd turn – from 12 :00 to 16:00
  • 3rd turn – from 16:00 to 20:00

In the end it happened. The power deficit increased and on the evening of October 11, restrictions were applied to all queues. However, they planned to return the electricity to customers by 00:00.

Ternopil region

Hourly power outage was introduced in the settlements of the Ternopil region. This is due to the failure of the main substation “Ternopilska”, writes “Suspilne”. Andrey Leshchuk, Deputy Chief Engineer of High-Voltage Networks of Ternopiloblenergo, said that backup energy sources are now being used.

“Ternopiloblenergo” took measures to “re-heal” consumers who received electricity from this substation. They were connected to the supply of electricity from other backup sources. While there is no main power supply from the substation, electricity will be turned off hourly in the region according to agreed schedules.

Vinnytsia region

In the Vinnytsia region, there are also problems with power supply – 242 settlements were left without electricity, according to Vinnitsaoblenergo JSC. Therefore, the authorities urge to be as economical as possible in the consumption of electricity. This will help prevent blackouts. Not yet planned.

What to do when there is no power

В The Ministry of Reintegration has published a number of tips on how to deal with power outages.

  • First of all, you should turn off electrical appliances;
  • You need to be careful when using candles and dry alcohol;
  • If you are on the street, you should not come closer than 5 – 8 meters to broken or sagging wires.

In addition, Ukrainians are asked to reduce electricity consumption during the evening peak – from 17 to 23 hours. The use of powerful electrical appliances should be limited: washing machines, boilers, irons, electric stoves, heaters, etc. Also, you should not turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.
