The US Senate passed a temporary budget on November 15, but it made no mention of aid to Ukraine or Israel. Such a decision could be made after Thanksgiving, which is celebrated in America on November 23.

The United States needed to relieve tension, including through such a vote. American political scientist of Azerbaijani origin Ramiz Yunus told Channel 24 about this, adding that recently all attention was paid to the meeting of the leaders of the United States and China, and now on the topic of assistance to Ukraine and Israel.

Why was aid to Ukraine delayed?

Issues of financing Ukraine, Israel, and the allocation of funds for the border with Mexico cause contradictions between Republicans and Democrats. Consequently, they are trying to “mix” these topics, understanding that the majority of American society demands continued support for Ukraine and Israel.

The laws that each party wants to push through are related to a specific topical issue. For example, support for Ukraine will be linked to the wall on the border with Mexico. Support for Israel – with taxes for the rich. It is clear that all this is an element of bargaining,” Ramiz Yunus emphasized.

These topics will be discussed after Thanksgiving, and there may even be a joint decision to continue funding.

“I have no doubt, because representatives of both parties are interested in this. I always say that you (Ukraine – Channel 24) and the current US administration, President Joe Biden personally, are in a bond, like climbers climbing Everest. If you fail , then Biden and his administration will fall apart,” the political scientist noted.

The same applies to Israel, because for American society, support for this country is historically even higher than support for Ukraine. Throughout all the years of Israel's existence, the United States has been the guarantor of its independence.

We see that the anti-Israel campaign continues around the world, but it is fighting against a wall built by the United States. Therefore, this is strategic, bipartisan support,” Ramiz Yunus emphasized.

The political scientist also noted the fact that over the past two years, Ukraine, its military-political leadership, and diplomacy have been able to reach the West, and above all the United States. Even despite the war in Israel, the topic of Ukraine does not disappear from the lips of experts. It will continue throughout the entire election campaign.

“You don’t need to pay attention to speculation, you need to understand that Ukraine is moving along with the United States,” the political scientist added.

What is known about US aid?

  • The US House of Representatives will consider Joe Biden's appeal for support for Ukraine after Thanksgiving. This holiday is celebrated annually on November 23. We are talking about a combined aid package, including the allocation of funds for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and strengthening the border with Mexico.
  • The US House of Representatives approved temporary government funding. The package does not include assistance for Ukraine, but a separate vote is planned on it. Now this decision must be signed by Joe Biden. An anonymous White House official told reporters that Biden wants Congress to work on urgent needs, including those related to Ukraine and Israel.
  • During almost two years of full-scale war, Ukraine received the most funding from the EU and the United States. America is in second place with the amount of 70 billion provided to Ukraine. Currently, our government has used about 96% of all funds.
