Use of electronic warfare (EW) during air attacks by the Russian Federation — this is a standard practice that is increasingly used not only by the military.
The speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat, stated this on the air of the Unified News telethon, commenting on the information about the missile attack on January 13, when more than 20 missiles were suppressed by electronic warfare equipment.
— Russia has powerful electronic warfare, and we are developing in this direction; we also have enterprises that have been doing this for a long time. Nowadays, even many civilian enterprises are involved in the production of electronic warfare systems — the same anti-drone guns and more powerful means. Therefore, active work is underway in this direction, and this is something that, by the way, local communities can purchase, — he emphasized.

According to him, local authorities cannot buy weapons, but electronic warfare equipment, in particular from civilian manufacturers, is quite accessible, but, of course, they need to be checked.
— Both from FPV drones and from Lancet-type strike drones. Yes, this can affect enemy air attack means… This work is already underway. Today, the heads of certain companies are already thinking about their personal protection. The air force is provided with electronic warfare systems for weapons, but in parallel it is possible to attract civilian manufacturers and test them — do they really work, — Ignat explained.
The speaker of the Supreme Council noted that these electronic warfare systems are the future, since there is no need to spend money on expensive missiles.
During a missile attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine on the night of January 13, the air defense forces managed to suppress more than 20 of the 40 air attack weapons that were not included in the statistics of those shot down using electronic warfare.
