Financial assistance for Ukraine from Germany

In the bilateral agreement on security cooperation between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany, which was signed on February 16 by Scholz and Zelensky, it is mentioned that in 2024 Germany has decided to provide funds for military assistance totaling €7.1 billion.

— (Germany, — Ed.) will support Ukrainian partners in developing modern, defense-capable armed forces in order to prevent any future Russian aggression, — he said.

Recall that Germany has prepared a new aid package for Ukraine in the amount of €1.1 billion, which will include 36 armored wheeled howitzers from industrial stocks , 120 thousand ammunition, two Skynex systems and missiles for IRIS-T.

According to Scholz, “today's agreement also covers assistance in the civilian sphere, such as mine clearance, energy infrastructure in Ukraine and reconstruction”.

In turn, Scholz noted, Ukraine takes responsibility for continuing reforms leading to the country’s accession to the EU.

— I must make it clear: of course, we all want this war to end as quickly as possible. But, unfortunately, we see that Russia is not ready for a long-term and fair peace, — stated the Chancellor.

He also appealed to the American Congress with a request to “adopt the decisions that Ukraine now needs to provide financial and military support”.
