Freezing money for Biden's campaign

Future Forward, Biden's largest super PAC, declined to comment on any conversations with donors or the amount of funds frozen. An adviser to the organization would only say that they expect donor contributions to be reinstated once the current candidacy uncertainty is resolved.

Super Political Action Committee is an independent organization that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money to support political candidates. Super PACs cannot directly coordinate their activities with candidates, but they can fund advertising and organize events to influence voters. Joe Biden has several super PACs for his 2024 campaign. A separate anonymous donor to the group said that after the debate he was repeatedly asked to contribute, but he and his friends refrained. Two people briefed on the frozen pledges declined to name the donors who withdrew their checks.

It is unclear how much of the pledged money was earmarked for the Future Forward super PAC and how much – for his non-profit organization. The super PAC is avoiding making strategic decisions until there is clarity on the candidacy, according to an anonymous person close to the group.

An aide to one of Future Forward's major donors, billionaire Reed Hoffman, who donated $7 million to the super PAC, said donors are making a mistake by withholding money.
