Drone attack on a house in Odessa: Gumenyuk named the probable cause of large-scale destruction

by alex

The Russian Federation is constantly working to improve the drones it uses to attack Ukrainian cities, in particular strengthening the warhead. This could have caused large-scale destruction of a residential building in Odessa.

This was reported by the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Natalya Gumenyuk, writes Radio Liberty.

— Recently, we have been recording enemy attempts to launch drones at very low altitudes. This takes away from air defense systems to a certain extent, makes them harder to detect and makes our job of shooting them down more difficult. They go low above sea level and then suddenly rise to the height from which the blow is struck, — she said.

In addition, the Russians are modifying drones, changing engines, changing the warhead.

— Therefore, it is likely that the warhead could have been strengthened. And in this regard — such destruction. But this will already be established by the investigation and examination and relevant specialists, — noted Gumenyuk.

According to the head of the press center, the attack on the Odessa region was “quite intense”. Within an hour, air defense units “very dense” worked on targets that approached simultaneously from different directions.

She added that mainly Russian UAVs entered from the direction of the Black Sea, followed by powerful maneuvering. In particular, over industrial facilities, port infrastructure and among residential buildings.

Strike on Odessa March 2

On the night of March 2, Russian troops sent eight Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones to the Odessa region, air defense units destroyed seven targets.

One of the drones, during maneuvers among residential areas of Odessa, hit a nine-story building. Part of the entrance of 18 apartments was destroyed.

Ten people, including children, have already died as a result of a drone hitting a high-rise building in Odessa.

On March 3, mourning for the dead was declared in the city and region.
