Due to the shortage of salt in Ukraine, in fact, the only salt plant in Drohobych has increased its capacity. Now the enterprise expects to receive up to 53 – 55 tons of salt.

ZAXID.NET journalists interviewed Igor Nashchechich, Deputy Director of the Drohobych Salt Plant, who spoke about the success of the support.

After the shutdown in April of Europe's largest salt production plant “Artyomsol”, which is located in the Donetsk region, there was a rush and a shortage of this product in Ukraine. In fact, the only salt producer in Ukraine was the Drohobych Salt Plant. Now it is working at full capacity to provide Ukrainians with its products.

According to Nashchechich, the plant plans to increase salt production by 20 tons per month. But it is noted that this volume is not enough even for the Lviv region.

The deputy director said that an additional bar (bath for salt digestion) was delivered at the plant last week. He noted that the installation is now being tested. Such an improvement should increase the production of salt. Some statistics: if earlier the company produced 31 – 32 tons per month, now it expects to receive up to 53 – 55 tons.

We do not have such capacities. We can take 50 cubes of salted brine a day, no more. To increase production, it is necessary to produce gas, install large 10×12 m baths, a drying drum, and conveyors. These are very large funds, – said acting. saltworks director.

As you know, the method of salt production in the Drohobych saltworks differs from traditional production, as it was in Soledar. At the plant, salt brine is pumped out of the bowels of the earth by special machines. Subsequently, it is boiled on wood in special baths – panwa. It is noted that this process is more complicated and expensive. As a result, the cost of Drohobych salt was almost twice the price of Artemsol's goods.

The demand for salt from the Drogobych saltworks is colossal, and therefore exceeds the industrial capabilities of the plant. It is reported that now salt from Drohobych is purchased by large retail chains of the Lviv region – “Arsen”, “Glove” and “Silpo”.
