A man drifted in a boat in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk for two months until he was found by local fishermen. Two of his companions, a friend and a 15-year-old teenager, died. They were trying to get to Sakhalin from the coast of Khabarovsk Krai and look at whales.

On August 9, two men and a 15-year-old teenager, the son of one of them, set off from Cape Perovsky in Khabarovsk Krai to the city of Okha in Sakhalin Oblast. Only one man survived, he was found by local fishermen, Russian media write, channel 24 reports.

He drifted at sea for two months

The purpose of the trip was, in particular, to look at whales. Subsequently, after departure, communication with the boat was lost, and it did not appear at the planned location. The vessel was found only on September 14 near the village of Ust-Khairuzovo in the Kamchatka Territory, where it was spotted by local fishermen.

The men took warm clothes, life jackets, flares, a small supply of food and 20 liters of drinking water with them.

However, only one person survived the 2 months of drifting, probably named Mikhail Pichugin, Russian Telegram channels report. During this time, he lost 50 kilograms, and is receiving medical assistance.

According to the survivor, the engine of the catamaran they were traveling on stalled, causing them to lose control.
