Ukrainian swimmer Vladislav Bukhov, who reached the semi-finals of the 50-meter freestyle competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics, said that he competed with a cold.
He told Suspilny about this in a commentary after the swim.
Bukhov about the swim in the qualification at the 2024 Olympics
Earlier, Alexander Zheltyakov, who failed to overcome two qualifications in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke, said that most of the swimming team fell ill upon arrival in Paris. Now Bukhov has confirmed this.

โ I'm sick now, but I have to do my job. That's why I'm doing everything I can, — said the athlete.
According to 22-year-old Bukhov, the depth of the pool, which, in his opinion, is insufficient, also affected the result in the qualification.
โ I kind of thought that it would close (qualification, — Ed.) at 21.9 seconds. Not a fast pool? It's just shallow and the draft is much less. When you row, your stroke pushes off the bottom and comes to you. And when the pool is deep, then it is not so noticeable, — noted Vladislav.
He added that he does not pay attention to the status of the current world champion. The Ukrainian said: I just swim and that's it.
Recall that Vladislav Bukhov won gold in the 50-meter freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar in February. He showed a time of 21.38 seconds.
His gold medal is historic for Ukraine, because our compatriots have never won gold in this distance at the World Championships before.
