< p _ngcontent-sc137="" class="news-annotation">Experts promise a tough winter. And if in the territories free for the counteroffensive, the thermal economy is technically prepared by more than 70%, then in the de-occupied territories the situation is much worse.

According to the head of the Kharkiv OVO Oleg Sinegubov, this will be the most difficult heating season throughout the independence of our state. However, the authorities are making quick decisions to prepare for the heating season.

Challenges and the newly occupied territories

According to Sinegubov, preparations for the heating season in the territories controlled by Ukraine are proceeding according to plan. Thus, the thermal economy of the Kharkiv region is technically prepared for winter by 73.3%. However, the situation in the newly occupied territories of the Kharkiv region is much more complicated, because, among other things, it is necessary to resume gas and electricity supplies there.

In the laid-off settlements, the state of damage to power grids, gas pipelines and main gas pipelines was assessed, prompt decisions are being made. Then they will build communications and restore critical infrastructure. This is necessary so that people have an electricity network and gas in their homes, because, according to Sinegubov, 90% are heated by gas, even private households.

People do not have an alternative source of heating, People don’t have time to install it, there is a limited amount of funds,” the chairman of the Kharkiv OVA emphasized.

In addition, the invaders constantly influence the situation in the Kharkiv region. The authorities are preparing for the fact that, due to Russian shelling, they can change at any moment, not only in the de-occupied territories.

“The enemy has repeatedly hit critical infrastructure with missiles. Therefore, to predict how it will be in the future, we cannot. Now we are doing everything possible to keep the houses warm,” Sinegubov said.

Normal life is returning to the de-occupied territories

  • In the de-occupied territories, not only communications, but also the economy are being quickly restored. During the evening address on September 13, the President of Ukraine said that in some places in the liberated territories they had already begun to issue pensions to Ukrainians for five months at once. Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that all pensioners on the de-occupied lands would receive payments from the state.
  • Mobile branches of Ukrposhta have already been launched on the liberated lands in Grakovo and Balakliya. Thanks to this, on September 13, Ukrainian pensioners were already able to receive a pension, which Ukrposhta will continue to pay over the next weeks.
  • In addition, Novaya Pochta has also resumed work in Chuguev and Balakliya. The postal service is preparing to restart the work of 14 branches this week, and next week another 15 representative offices in the de-occupied territories of the Kharkiv region should start operating. It is expected that by the end of September, Nova Poshta will open only 50 service points.
