Shmihal says that there will be no concessions for men to leave the country yet/Cabinet of Ministers

With the start of the war in Ukraine, our men were forbidden to leave the state. At the same time, there is a list of those men who can do this in some cases.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal told whether they plan to remove travel restrictions for men. After all, many have sent their families abroad and would like to visit them or go to work.

During martial law, these restrictions are not planned to be lifted. Although in reality the military makes the decision. I believe that while the war is going on, all men should be in Ukraine,” said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to him, at the beginning of the war there was a tendency for Ukrainian men to return from abroad.

What will happen to the flow of people after the war

Shmihal stressed that when Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, in the first weeks 200,000 men returned to Ukraine from work in Europe.

“This is also such a unique indicator, I think that after the war, all these people wonderful international work experience will remain in Ukraine. Therefore, there is actually still a question whether we will lose people, or vice versa, we will return to rebuild Ukraine even more,” Shmihal explained.

He also called for talking about this after the war because such issues need to be addressed in the future.

Ukrainian refugees

  • In the first days of the war, our women and children began to flee en masse to European countries, hiding from Russian armed aggression and atrocities. According to UN estimates, as of May 1, 2022, 5.5 million people have already left our state. Earlier, the organization predicted that 8.3 million people would leave Ukraine. Now, the trend says that every month fewer people leave the country's borders.
  • European countries hospitably accept our refugees and offer various simplified conditions and programs for finding housing, work, education and other things. For example, for refugees from Ukraine, German universities have simplified the conditions for admission.
  • Italy has also become one of the countries that have opened their borders to refugees from Ukraine. It has recently increased financial aid to Ukraine and support for refugees. Poland took upon itself a huge support and the main blow to the refugees from Ukraine. Most of the people went there and stopped. Slovakia is also a huge help.
