The Cabinet approved a new procedure for organizing and maintaining military records. The issue of serving subpoenas abroad has already caused a significant resonance among society.
Roman Gorbach, Head of the Personnel Department of the Headquarters of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that citizens of Ukraine who are abroad for more than three months are required to become consular registration.
Such citizens must be registered with the military consulate of the respective state. If necessary, they can be given a summons to the territorial recruitment center,” Gorbach noted.
What you need to know about military registration abroad
- Military records among Ukrainians abroad will be maintained by diplomatic departments. They should also facilitate the return of those liable for military service to Ukraine during mobilization.
- If citizens who are abroad have reached military age and do not have a deferment or are not exempted from conscription for military service, the diplomatic institutions of Ukraine must inform them of the start next call.
- Within 7 days after a citizen of Ukraine becomes a consular register abroad or is removed from it, the diplomatic institution must inform the relevant district or city TCC and SP, SBU bodies about the conscript, military service or reservist or units of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. It all depends on the location on the military register.
- In addition, diplomatic institutions must maintain lists of conscripts, those liable for military service and reservists who are on temporary consular registration and are on military registration. Such lists will be kept for 5 years.
