Russians still overwhelmingly support the war in Ukraine. They see it as defensive and just.

There are even cases of Russian parents pressuring their sons to join the army. At the same time, more and more Russians are beginning to lean towards negotiations.

Russia Supports the War

The Times notes that on the streets of Russian cities it is not at all noticeable that the country is participating in a bloody and expensive war. The only thing that reminds one is the occasional billboards with propaganda and an invitation to join the front. Unlike Ukraine, there are no bombed-out cities or destroyed villages here, but Russians still believe that they are defending themselves.

Last month, 77% of Russians surveyed said they supported Putin's decision to invade Ukraine. Only 17% were against, and 6% were undecided. At the same time, the Levada Center recorded a record number of Russians who believe that now is a favorable time for negotiations. 58% said so.

There are also many passionate supporters of the war in Russia. For example, doctor Mikhail, who was surveyed, told the publication that he is categorically against the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.

If we lose, it will be even worse. The West will finish us off. We believe in our victory and that Putin will not die, said Mikhail.

However, some analysts are convinced that these data are distorted. According to the Chronicles project, less than one in five Russians are consistent supporters of the war. A little less than half of citizens want to restore relations with the West. The head of the project is more inclined to believe that Russians are indifferent to the war.
