Insane losses of Ukrainians, mockery of our people should not be abstract figures on paper. Representatives of almost twenty diplomatic missions visited dismissed Izyum on September 23 to see with their own eyes the atrocities of the Russians.
This visit, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, took place to bring the truth to the world about Russia's bloody crimes committed on Ukrainian soil. The aggressor country must be held accountable for the crimes of aggression, genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Foreign diplomats saw the dungeon and the mass grave with their own eyes
Together with a group of foreign ambassadors, Deputy Head of the Office of the Head of State Andrey Sibiga and Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebiynis visited the dismissed Izyum in the Kharkiv region. With them were the EU ambassador and representatives of almost twenty diplomatic missions:- Lithuania,
- Latvia,
- Estonia,
- Germany ,
- Austria,
- Hungary,
- France,
- Spain,
- Slovenia,
- Croatia,
- Denmark,
- Sweden,
- Switzerland,
- Turkey,

- Poland.
They saw with their own eyes what atrocities the Russian occupiers resorted to. In particular, the ambassadors visited a multi-storey residential building destroyed by a 500-kilogram Russian bomb, where 53 people died, including seven little Ukrainians. Foreign diplomats also examined the mass grave of tortured and executed Ukrainians, found in a forest belt on the outskirts of Izyum.
Pay attention! 436 bodies were exhumed from the mass grave, including five children. Most of the bodies show signs of violent death.
The world must know the truth about the bloody crimes of infidels. That is why it is extremely important that today foreign diplomats had the opportunity to see with their own eyes what the Russian occupiers leave behind, Andrey Sibiga said.
Heads of diplomatic missions also:
- visited the National Police Station in Izyum, which the occupiers turned into a dungeon;
- talked to two local residents who managed to survive after being tortured;
- met with representatives of the military-civilian leadership of the region;
- talked to journalists, including representatives of leading foreign media.
“Ukraine will receive all our help to win the war”
What you see cannot leave you indifferent. After what he saw, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas tweeted that Ukraine would receive help to win the war and bring Russian war criminals to justice.
Brotherly graves. Confinement chambers. Much of the city was destroyed. Less than a third of the inhabitants remained. Ukraine will get all our help to win the war and prosecute Russian war criminals,” wrote Matti Maasikas.
Russian atrocities in Izyum: in brief
- On September 16, after the de-occupation of the city, mass graves of Ukrainians were discovered. The scale is horrendous – more than 400 bodies were found. Among the buried there are many people with traces of torture. So, they found the body of a tortured man, strangled with a rope, and buried him with a rope around his neck. The body of another Ukrainian was with his hands tied and his scrotum cut off. Mass graves and graves of murdered families with children were also identified.
- After the exhumation of the buried was completed, the National Police said that some of the bodies were so mutilated that it was even impossible to establish the sex of the dead. They also noted that most of the bodies, during a visual inspection, along with experts, show signs of violent death.
- Today, Izyum's infrastructure is almost completely destroyed. The situation is terrible, in many places there are no communications, electricity and heat supply, and local residents are forced to cook on the street.
- Three days after the discovery of the mass grave, Russia hit another bottom and showed that there is no limit to its cynicism. Thus, the Kremlin officially commented on the atrocities of its military in Izyum and stated that Ukraine was groundlessly accusing Russia. As Peskov said, everything that was discovered in Izyum is a lie of Ukraine.
