According to Marca, the car carrying Jota and his brother Andre skidded off the road and caught fire.
Nicolo Schira confirmed Jota's death on his social media page X and expressed his condolences.
“Terrible and sad news. Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has died at the age of 28. May he rest in peace,” he wrote.
Insider Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the death of the famous footballer.
Later, the death of Diogo Jota was confirmed by the Portuguese Football Federation, as well as by Liverpool Football Club.

Previously playing for Porto and Wolverhampton, he gained a reputation as a dynamic and technical striker.
