The trial of Ukrainian activist Sergei Sternenko continues. On June 17, the activist was scheduled for a hearing in the Odessa court.
Sternenko said that he was being summoned because of a case of self-defense, during which the attacker died.

There were two assailants during the last attempted murder in question. In addition to the deceased Kuznetsov, Alexander Isaykul participated in the attack. The second was able to escape from Ukraine.
Let me remind you that Trukhanov, who ordered the attacks on me, is free and is in charge of Odessa. The live perpetrator of the attack, Isaykul, fled Ukraine and is not on the international wanted list. In the dock for all three attacks there is (was there?) only the perpetrator of the second one, because I detained him myself,” Sternenko added.
Why Sternenko remembered Trukhanov
In 2020, a man who did not reveal his face recorded a video. He stated that he was a witness in the case of the attack on Sergei Sternenko. According to him, one of the organizers of the attack on Sternenko, namely Alexander Pobedov, told him that the order to “break the Nazi Sternenko” was allegedly given by the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov.
Add that Sternenko accuses Pobedov of organizing the assassination attempt on him. But in court, Pobedov is a witness.
The Sternenko case about self-defense: the main thing
- In 2018, Sternenko was attacked three times. The last time Sternenko was attacked on the night of May 25 by two people – Ivan Kuznetsov and Alexander Isaykul. Then a girl was present with the activist. The activist managed to protect himself and the girl, but mortally wounded one of the attackers. The second disappeared.
- It is interesting that the pro-Russian forces are called the killer of Sternenko: this is exactly the kind of rhetoric that was pushed, for example, through Medvedchuk's channels.
- The trial continues due to Sternenko's self-defense, during which time he has had his preventive measures changed several times. In general, Sternenko has become a symbol of the “self-defense” movement in Ukraine.
