Denmark transferred unique maritime drones SeaBat to the Ukrainian Navy

Denmark transferred autonomous hydrographic systems (SeaBat sea drones) to the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As the head of the hydrographic service of the Ukrainian Navy, Captain First Rank Roman Goncharenko, said, this complex is equipped with a multi-beam echo sounder and is designed to survey the bottom topography for the purpose of situational awareness of the underwater space.

Its capabilities allow, in particular, to identify underwater objects, which is very important for military sailors today.

– The main purpose of a multibeam echo sounder is to collect accurate data about the seabed and marine environment. They can then be processed and used to create and update nautical charts and tablets to support safe navigation in the area. The resulting bathymetric information allows you to know the depths of the bottom with density every centimeter. Accordingly, we can know the existing underwater obstacles, choose the right parking places for our watercraft, passage options, and ship routes,” explains the officer.

He also noted that these drones are used primarily in port waters and enclosed water areas. A multibeam echo sounder allows you to obtain information from 1024 beams. That is, in fact, military sailors receive a detailed bottom topography.

– This unmanned surface complex is manufactured by Maritime Robotics (Norway), special equipment of the complex, in particular the multi-beam echo sounder SeaBat T51, manufactured by Teledyne Marine (Denmark), which is one of the leading manufacturers of sonars and echo sounders of various types, as well as navigation equipment. It will significantly enhance the ability to study the seabed, which is sometimes crucial for the safety of navigation and environmental protection,” Goncharenko added.

What is known about the SeaBat maritime drone

Multibeam echo sounder SeaBat T51-R – based on the famous SeaBat T50, but with quadruple resolution. The SeaBat T51-R is a revolutionary multibeam fish finder.

Its unrivaled 800 kHz technology allows you to capture the highest levels of detail while maintaining amazing shooting efficiency with wide coverage.

It also has a flexible lower frequency range of 350-430 kHz.

AI Autonomous Sonar Control is purpose-built for the SeaBat T51, a unique SeaBat innovation that delivers reliable data and hands-free sonar operation for increased survey efficiency with less operator strain.

The echo sounder provides unprecedented information about the topography of the seafloor and thus takes bathymetric data acquisition to a whole new level.
