In Bolshaya Aleksandrovka, Kherson region, the occupiers are forcing the local population to leave their own homes until April 28. Lyudmila Denisova appealed to the UN Commission to Investigate Human Rights Violations during the War in Ukraine to take into account these facts of war crimes and human rights violations of Russia in Ukraine.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine wrote about this in her telegram channel and recalled human rights to choose a place of residence.

According to Denisova, in the Kherson region, in the urban-type settlement of Velikaya Aleksandrovka, the Russians are forcibly evicting all residents. In case of non-execution of the criminal order of the occupiers, forced evacuation will be applied to the civilian population. Probably, it will be carried out on the territory of Russia.

Lyudmila Denisova recalled that by evicting Ukrainian citizens from their homes, Russia violates international law. Namely, according to these norms, the right to housing is one of the most important socio-economic rights of citizens.

The right to housing should be realized subject to a person’s free choice of place of residence provided for in Article 10 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural rights and article 12 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

I appeal to the UN Commission of Inquiry into Human Rights Violations during the Russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of war crimes and violations human rights of Russia in Ukraine,” Denisova wrote.
