On the night of October 26, Israel struck Iranian military targets. The operation took place in several waves and was called “Days of Repentance.”

The first wave focused on Iran's air defense system, while the second and third waves focused on missile and drone bases, as well as weapons production sites.

Israel's attack on Iran

The IDF reported that overnight, Israeli aircraft attacked production facilities for the missiles Iran used to strike the country, surface-to-air missile systems, and other targets.

Several military bases and a command post of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were also believed to have come under fire. The targets of the attack, according to Israeli officials, were not Iranian oil or nuclear facilities.

The new attack was a response to more than a year of attacks by Tehran and its allies, and was dubbed the “Days of Repentance.” It was the first time Israel claimed responsibility for an attack on Iran.

At least five explosions were heard in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The noise was also loud in the neighboring city of Karaj. Iran officially acknowledged the attacks on military facilities in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam. There are reports of damage, details are being clarified.

Israel Ziv, a former IDF operations directorate chief, calls the Israeli strikes “historic” and says Israel spent hours doing “whatever it wanted” in the skies over Iran, targeting some of its most important military targets.
