This was reported by Russian opposition journalists with reference to the Investigative Committee of Russia. Now Pavel Baryshev faces up to 10 years in prison.

What Baryshev is suspected of

According to investigators, Baryshev “stole a three-room apartment” in the Moscow region worth at least 20 million rubles. To do this, he allegedly forged documents stating that he had the right to receive housing.

The Investigative Committee emphasized that the court had already seized the apartment. The investigation of the criminal case is being conducted by the Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee.

Baryshev served as Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from February 2017 to May 2021.

It is noted that the criminal case against him was opened against the backdrop of several criminal cases against members of the team of the former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Minister of Defense Shoigu.

In particular, another former deputy of the former Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, Pavel Popov, was recently detained in Russia. He is also accused of corruption and fraud.
