Crimean resistance: how active Ukrainians destroyed the plans of the Russians to occupy the peninsula

On February 26, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Crimean Resistance. It was on this day in 2014 that a rally of Crimean Tatars took place in Simferopol, and now de-occupation is really expected in Crimea.

Boris Babin, permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (in 2017-2018), told Channel 24 about this. In general, there are 3 factors that allow Russia to control Crimea.

Babin noted that any day of occupation is the day of occupation. There was an interesting story when, as part of the struggle between the groupings of collaborators, a video of this rally of the criminal senator Kovitidi, who was then a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, was posted.

You can see very well there that this rally frustrated the plans of the occupiers, because the plan of the aggressor then was to form a picture of some kind of “free voting”, illegal in the Ukrainian Assembly, and the like. Then even these collaborators declared before the rally that they were for unity with Ukraine, as if everything was fine, – said the permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (in 2017-2018).

He added that on the morning of February 27, precisely because it was impossible to take criminal steps without weapons, the Russian army went right in and the “little green men” occupied the administrative buildings of power in Crimea. This is history, but it is not forgotten today.

Current mood in Crimea

According to the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (in 2017-2018), the current mood reflects the negative situation that has developed in Crimea in the social and economic spheres. On the other hand, absolutely everyone understands the inevitability of de-occupation.

“Everyone understands that this gray zone, this occupation regime on the peninsula, unrecognized by the world that has been going on since 2014, should not be dragged on for decades. However, large-scale Russian aggression has absolutely changed the picture and changed the speed of this hourglass,” Babiy emphasized.

As he noted, the collaborators are now preoccupied with tomorrow, but in general, the mood is not the same as it was, for example, 2 or 3 years ago.
