How will the supply of weapons to Russia by the DPRK affect the war against Ukraine
Journalists noted that North Korea has a large arsenal of artillery and unguided missiles that Russia could use for its Soviet weapons. Despite repeated objections by Pyongyang and Moscow over any involvement in arms supplies to Russia, it is very likely that Kim Jong-in and Vladimir Putin will be involved in discussions about providing arms to Russian occupation forces.
Terence Roehrig, a distinguished professor of national security at the US Naval War College, shed light on the situation with the supply of ammunition from North Korea, emphasizing that it is unlikely to have a critical impact in the near future. However, he confidently asserted that these weapons would undoubtedly help Russia in its continuous war of attrition.
It is worth noting that North Korean ammunition could allow Russia's military industry to significantly expand its production capabilities and accumulate significant reserves of domestic weapons.
David Schmerler, a senior fellow at the prestigious James Martin Center, suggested that adding North Korea to the registry of wartime arms suppliers could help Russia close gaps in its munitions and other weapons systems.
Additionally, Schmerler emphasized that Russia's decision to seek military assistance from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea may signal its challenges in strengthening domestic productive capacity.
According to analysts, Putin is interested in buying North Korean 122 and 152 caliber artillery ammunition. In addition, they suggest that the occupiers need 122mm rockets.
Weapons expert Jost Oleemans noted that North Korea has significant stocks of Soviet T-54 and T-62 tanks, similar to those used by the occupiers in Ukraine .
