For a long time, Ukraine has been trying to get permission from the United States to conduct long-range strikes deep into Russia. A bipartisan group of congressmen and senators called on Joe Biden to immediately lift the restrictions.

In a letter sent to the White House, the politicians note that the current restrictions are unjustified. In addition, influential Republicans in the House of Representatives also sent a separate letter to Biden.

What Congressmen Are Asking Biden

The journalist said that a bipartisan group of congressmen and senators in their letter called on Joe Biden to immediately lift any restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons for strikes deep into Russia.

These restrictions are inconsistent with anything we would ever accept for our own operations, or with the conditions we impose on other partners who use American weapons to defend themselves, such as Israel… It is time for America and our NATO allies to seek not only to prevent Russia from winning, but to fully enable Ukraine to win on behalf of its brave people, the letter to Biden says.

Influential Republicans in the House of Representatives have also made a similar appeal to Biden. They noted that the administration's fears about possible escalation of the conflict due to strikes on Russian territory have been repeatedly refuted since the first days of the war.

“The administration's concerns about escalation have been refuted every time since the first day of the war. Neither Ukraine's use of U.S.-supplied weapons in Russia, nor its military incursion into the Kursk region, have provoked an escalatory response from Russia,” the Republicans wrote.
