Coming “in the coming days and weeks”: Macron promised more military assistance to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky on May 14. During the conversation, the French leader promised to provide new military assistance to our state.

Macron announced arms supplies, condemning the start of the Russian offensive in the north of the Kharkov region . The French president also strongly condemned the intensification of Russian attacks against Ukraine.

Macron promised Zelensky to provide weapons to Ukraine

The communique, which was published by the Elysee Palace following a telephone conversation between Zelensky and Macron, states that the presidents discussed the situation at the front and Ukraine’s needs for weapons. Thus, the French leader “expressed strong condemnation of the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine, in particular on its energy infrastructure, as well as the beginning of the current Russian offensive.”

In addition, President Macron confirmed France's readiness to provide constant assistance to Ukraine together with its allies in the fight against Russia's aggressive actions.

He also spoke in detail about the supply of (weapons. – 24 Channel), which will be carried out in the coming days and weeks in support of the Ukrainian military efforts, – noted at the Elysee Palace.

The French head also recalled his proposal for the “Olympic Truce “, during which Russia would have to cease hostilities. The proposal also includes the aggressor country using “all diplomatic efforts to initiate negotiations that would be consistent with international law and the legitimate interests of Ukraine.”

Zelensky also spoke about the conversation with Macron

President Vladimir Zelensky also commented on the telephone conversation with Macron in his telegram channel. The Ukrainian leader noted that the main topic of the negotiations was preparation for the Global Peace Summit.

“Grateful for confirming participation in the summit,” said the Ukrainian president.

In addition, according to Zelensky, he and Emmanuel Macron discussed in detail the situation at the front, as well as our defense needs: strengthening air defense, additional artillery systems, in particular long-range weapons and shells.
