- Military career
He was a tank platoon leader in Hillersleben (Germany) from 1991 to 1993. Then he became the commander of a tank company in Novograd-Volynsky, commander of a tank battalion, and then deputy commander of the 30th separate mechanized brigade (Novograd-Volynsky, now Zvyagel, Zhitomir region).
In 2006-2007, he commanded the Ukrainian peacekeeping forces in Kosovo.

Later, until 2010, he served as chief of staff of the 30th separate mechanized brigade. For five years from 2010, he was the commander of the 24th separate mechanized brigade in the city of Yavorov, Lviv region.
- Combat merits
Since March 2014, Alexander Pavlyuk took an active part in repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Under his command, the brigade distinguished itself during the liberation of Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Seversk and Lisichansk. In particular, in August of that year, the brigade under the command of Pavlyuk successfully advanced in the Lugansk direction and ensured the release of the Lugansk airport.
From 2015 to March 2017, Pavlyuk was the chief of staff and first deputy commander of the operational command West of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
In 2017-2020, Pavlyuk was commander of the forces of the operational group West.
In 2015, he was promoted to the rank of major general, and in 2018 — Lieutenant General. From summer 2020 to July 2021 — Commander of the Training Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
In July 2021, Pavlyuk became commander of the Joint Forces Operation (until March 2022). In this position, he organized the preparation of units in the Joint Forces Operation zone to repel a full-scale invasion of Russian troops. On the eve of the offensive of the invaders, on the orders of Pavlyuk, the movement and regrouping of Ukrainian units in the East was carried out, logistics and ammunition were dispersed. Reserve training took place.
March 15, 2022 Alexander Pavlyuk was appointed head of the Kyiv OVA. He worked in this position until May 21. He was involved in organizing the defense of Kyiv and the region in repelling a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
In May 2022, Pavlyuk received the appointment of chief of staff — Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and at the same time was the commander of the Group of Defense Forces and Means of Defense of Kyiv.
February 21, 2023 Pavlyuk was appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense.

Alexander Pavlyuk in March 2022 was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Gold Star. Also among his awards: the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III and II degrees, the medal for military service to Ukraine and the like.
