Intelligence discovered a colonel who betrayed Crimea in 2014 and is now fighting against us/GUR
Ukrainian spies told information about the traitor of Ukraine. Garkavenko Valery Viktorovich renounced our country in 2014, and now he has come to fight against us.
He rose to the rank of colonel among the Russian invaders. He even became the commander of the 25th separate special-purpose detachment “MERCURY”, based in the Smolensk region of the Central District of the Russian National Guard Troops.
The traitor is fighting against Ukraine
Now, during the Russian attack on Ukraine, Garkavenko commanded the tactical group of the 25th separate special forces detachment of the Central District of the Russian National Guard Troops. He was part of the reinforced tactical group No. 1 of the grouping of Russian troops “VOSTOK”.
Ukrainian intelligence learned that from February to April 2022, it was this unit that participated in the operation to capture Kyiv from the west. Also, the personnel under his command were involved in war crimes against the civilian population of the Kiev region.
Who was Garkovenko before the betrayal
In intelligence they say that Until 2014, the traitor served in the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He was deputy commander of the 9th separate brigade of the Crimean Territorial Command. This military unit No. 3009 was based in Simferopol.
After Russia occupied Crimea, Garkavenko did not arrive on the territory of the continental part of Ukraine at the indicated collection points. He betrayed the military oath and went over to the side of the occupier.
