On the territory of Moldova, in the so-called Republic of Transnistria, there is a Russian military contingent. He threatens Moldova itself, not Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by Channel 24 Reserve Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert, pilot-instructor Roman Svitan. Ukraine in a certain way can help Moldova defend itself against Russia.
Russian grouping in Transnistria does not threaten Ukraine
Svitan said that Transnistria does not threaten Ukraine in any way. The grouping that exists in Transnistria is ten times smaller than even the Russian grouping in Belarus. Combat-ready there is a maximum of 1.5 – 2 thousand. There will be only 2 – 3 battalion reconnaissance groups.
Our two brigades will destroy this grouping very quickly, so they will definitely not attack us. They definitely can't do that for themselves. But they can really attack Moldova. However, this will be a more political attack than a military one,” said the colonel of the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Likely attack on Moldova
He continued that our intelligence identified the danger to Moldova and passed this information on to the political leadership of Ukraine, and it passed this information on to the military-political leadership of Ukraine. Certain measures were taken in Moldova, the composition of the government, together with the prime minister, was replaced by more or less security officials.
“Several people were arrested and accused of preparing for a coup d'état in the republic to destabilize it. As soon as new people appeared in the government of Moldova, they immediately raised the issue of the presence of Russian troops in the so-called Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic,” the military expert noted.
As the pilot-instructor noted, in order to expel this contingent or destroy it, Moldova can turn to the Ukrainian troops, to the Ukrainian military-political leadership. Further, if a decision is made, then our troops can really destroy or capture the entire so-called army of Transnistria.
How events will develop will depend entirely on the decision of the military-political leadership of Moldova. I think that the Ukrainian leadership will make the right decision and respond positively to such requests, if they come from Moldova,” Svitan stressed.
