Close to disaster: several important refineries of Petro Sineokiy may close in Russia

Media reports that several Russian oil refineries are on the verge of closure. If this happens, there will be even bigger problems.

Economist Maxim Blunt told Channel 24 about this, noting that Russian oil refineries have encountered several problems since the start of the full-scale war that are difficult to solve. There is information that the Tuapse, Ilsky, and Novoshakhtinsky oil refineries are generally on the verge of closing.

What will happen to Russian oil refineries

As Blunt noted, oil refineries in Russia mainly operate on Western equipment. It is quite difficult to import such spare parts to the aggressor country due to sanctions.

It cannot be ruled out that refineries in the south of Russia will reduce production or stop altogether. This does not mean that Russia will run out of gasoline. There are large refineries in Siberia. But the load on Russian infrastructure will increase sharply, – said Blunt.

Russia will be forced to use the existing infrastructure more intensively to deliver the same fuel or raw materials to the regions. Because of this, deliveries of other goods will slow down. Everything will be slower and more expensive.

In general, Russia is running into not only a lack of people, but also the impossibility of buying new equipment. These refineries in western or southern Russia were primarily operating to supply the Russian military. So these drone strikes made sense, Blunt emphasized.
